Dave Atkins has emerged as a strong bluegrass vocalist who can at times channel Dave Evans, as on “Better Days A Coming†(one of his two compositions), and at others move close to contemporary sounds or the country of Haggard’s “Sing Me Back Home.†Atkins has a good ear for songs that fit him and his soulful singing style, resulting in a solid and diverse album. - Art Menius
